Central Coast
& Paso Robles
March 1-3, 2024
3 days of San Luis Obispo county roads, with award-winning Paso Robles wines, and really good food.
Join our group of road cyclists to Templeton for three days of riding in March. We were fortunate to ride in the Central Coast area last year and are excited about returning for more miles! The drive there is about three and a half hours from the Bay Area, allowing for three days of quality riding between our arrival on Friday at noon and our return on Sunday evening.
The trip will include two shorter days of riding (30-50 miles) and a longer day (50-75 miles) on Saturday. The region varies from hillside vineyards, coastal mountains, Pacific shoreline, and rolling farm roads. We’ll be riding as a no-drop group with opportunities to stretch out on climbs or descents if you want to ride ahead.
We've been cooking and enjoying recipes from Melissa Clark, Yottam Ottolenghi , and Christopher Kimball. We’ll have two hearty and healthy dinners on Friday and Saturday night with meat and vegan options. A dinner might include: tomato and bread salad with fresh herbs, roast chicken with leeks, cacio e pepe, raspberry ice cream and homemade cookies. Cyclists deserve the chance to eat some great food after riding all day!
The Central Coast & Paso Robles region is dotted with some exceptional vineyards that take advantage of the diversity in soils, elevation and rainfall. We’ll enjoy award-winning bottles from vineyards such as Thacher, Tablas Creek, and Justin. We’ll also have a selection of other drinks for those that prefer craft beers and non-alcoholic options.

Saturday breakfast and dinner, drinks and dessert

You’ll need to bring your own road bike and tools, as well as your preferred on-the-bike nutrition (bars, gels etc). You will be able to buy your lunch each day from a restaurant or market during the ride. You’ll drive to Templeton and back, and we may be able to help you coordinate carpools.
Your guides:
Hugh Rodman has been cycling throughout his life, although it took decades to realize that it was way more fun to do with other people. One of the few things he's won in this short life was a cooking competition.
Kristen Vetterlein has been cycling for over a decade, podiumed at gravel and MTB events across the west and never cheffed up the same exact recipe twice
Chris Castro realized upon moving to the Bay Area twenty years ago that it was indeed possible to exist without a car of his own and has enjoyed riding bikes and figuring out how to keep them working ever since. He is dead set on finding the world’s best pretzel and petting every dog he sees
